6-8 Grade Science Teacher (Part-Time or Full-Time)

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Science Teacher to join our middle school faculty, teaching students in grades 6 through 8. This position offers flexibility and can be either part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate's availability and needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for science education and a commitment to fostering a stimulating and engaging learning environment. The successful candidate will inspire students to explore scientific principles, develop critical thinking skills, and cultivate a love for learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state and national science standards for grades 6-8.

  • Teach a range of science topics, including earth science, life science, physical science, and environmental science.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and active learning.

  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

  • Conduct hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and lab activities to enhance student understanding and engagement.

  • Assess and monitor student progress through tests, projects, lab activities, and assignments.

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student learning and development.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.

  • Prepare students for standardized tests and assessments in science.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-disciplinary content and enhance the overall curriculum.

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.

  • Uphold school policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • State teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Science is preferred.

  • Proven experience teaching science at the middle school level, with a strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional strategies.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and motivate students.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parents/guardians.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and conducting experiments.

  • Experience with inquiry-based and hands-on learning approaches.

  • Familiarity with educational technology and digital tools for science education.

  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and staying current with scientific advancements.
