Job Description: High School Math Teacher and Assistant Football and Track Coach
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic educator to join our high school faculty as a Math Teacher and Assistant Football and Track Coach. This dual role requires a passion for teaching mathematics and a commitment to supporting student-athletes in their academic and athletic endeavors. The ideal candidate will possess strong content knowledge in math, effective teaching strategies, and coaching experience, fostering both academic and athletic excellence.
Responsibilities:
Math Teaching:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state and national math standards.
Teach a range of math courses, potentially including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Utilize a variety of instructional methods and technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Assess and monitor student progress through tests, quizzes, assignments, and projects.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student growth and understanding.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
Prepare students for standardized tests and college entrance exams in mathematics.
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-disciplinary content and enhance the overall curriculum.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.
Uphold school policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
Assistant Football and Track Coaching:
Assist the head coach in planning and conducting football and track practices, conditioning programs, and competitions.
Support the development and implementation of game strategies and playbooks.
Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
Monitor and support student-athletes’ academic performance, ensuring they meet eligibility requirements.
Organize and manage team logistics, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and equipment management.
Maintain open communication with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the community regarding team activities and events.
Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes, promoting their physical, emotional, and social development.
Uphold athletic program policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
State teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Mathematics.
Proven experience teaching high school mathematics, with a strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional strategies.
Experience coaching football and track at the high school level, with a track record of success.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students and athletes.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parents/guardians.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Desired Skills:
Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools for math instruction.
Experience with strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes.
Familiarity with sports psychology and athlete development principles.
